These vegetable sellers are hawking produce from the nearby Kanda vegetable market. Life in the city was convenient with such peddlers who walked through town with wares suspended from poles on their shoulders. They offered komatsuna, eggplant, daikon radish, carrots, burdock, and potatoes raised by farmers on the outskirts of town. They also sold fish, water, fruit, sweets, cloth, and old clothing.
