On the other side of Nihonbashi Bridge, fresh fish caught in nearby coastal waters are being unloaded from small, fast boats called oshiokuribune. In addition, large quantities of goods from all over Japan arrived at Nihonbashi to satisfy the demands of Edo and its population of over one million people. Today, sightseeing boats that cruise the Sumida River and Kanda River operate from the dock at Nihonbashi Bridge.
