The new exhibition at the Mitsui Memorial Museum is called “Soboku-e, Japanese Innocent Paintings through the Ages”.
“Soboku-e” refers to a simplistic style of unsophisticated and humorous paintings originally made for common people who couldn’t afford expensive art. In this exhibition, visitors can see not only paintings, but also sculptures, illustrated scrolls, and picture books!
Until September 1st, the museum is open until 19:00 on Fridays (last entry 18:30). During ECO EDO Nihonbashi 2019, you can also receive a discount if you wear yukata or show your ART AQUARIUM 2019 ticket.
After enjoying your time at the Mitsui Memorial Museum, you can relax with a cup of tea or try one of the special seasonal dishes at the museum café. We tried “hiyashi udon” (cold udon noodles) there – it was really delicious!
